Halloween

1. Mention the special characteristics.
Halloween always is celebrate in the last day of October, the children knock on neighborhood doors shouting "Trick or Treat!’’ that means that they want candy. The children dress in funny or ghostly costumes.
Halloween originated was related with evil spirits. And some symbols are: witches flying in broomsticks with black cats, ghosts, goblins and skeletons, but the most important pumpkins. The Halloween color is black and orange because it always takes place at night, and orange because the most important symbol is the pumpkins and they have to be orange-colored squash; but the entire person think that the idea of carving pumpkins into Jack-o’-Lanterns is original of U.S. bur it is of Ireland.
In U.S., since the 80’s, November 1st is a religious holiday that is called All Saints' Day
2. Compare with celebration in Mexico.
In Mexico we celebrate ‘Day of Death’ and it celebrates in November 2nd, and is dedicated to people who are no longer with us and can return to live with us in the underworld. No one knows the origin of this tradition but it is believed that this related with 'The Festival of the Dead "that the Aztecs celebrated after the harvests. And the celebration that takes place is a mix of pre-Hispanic custom of burying the dead with objects, food and gifts for his journey to the afterlife.
In Mexico we put an offering for our sere ones who have died, which bears a photograph of the deceased, marigold flowers, incense, candles, food and fruit that he liked the dead.
